Electrical engineers are responsible for developing different electrical plans and projects in a building i.e. commercial or residential. These engineers are professionals who understand the needs and requirements of a building regarding the electrical system and they know what equipment to install in the building and what kind of electrical system should be used for better performance and more economic use. Usually when a construction project starts, electrical engineers are hired so that they can work side by side with the civil engineers and can coordinate with them to ensure the design of the building will support and has compatibility with the designed electrical system.

Job Responsibilities of an Electrical Engineer:

  • Meeting with the client and other key members of a project i.e. architect and civil engineers to understand needs and requirements of a project
  • Developing electrical plans for the project
  • Coordinating with the client and understand what kind of electrical system he wants in the building and what kind of appliances or equipment he prefers
  • Preparing detailed list of all the electrical systems needed for the project
  • Conducting research programs in the market to find suitable equipment and machinery in order to install the electrical system and appliances in the building
  • Meeting with the suppliers and hiring a compatible supplier to receive the orders for the required machinery and equipment
  • Working with team members and installing the system in the building
  • Observing the work of team members to ensure everything is in place
  • Evaluating the electrical system once it’s completely installed in the building and conducting different tests to analyze it

Salary of an Electrical Engineer:

Electrical engineers are famous for earning real good money in their career. It doesn’t matter if they work with government department or in private sector, they always make good money. Usually the salary of an electrical engineer starts from $70,000 to $90,000 depending on the city and country where he is working and this figure is about the starting salary. After some experience in the field, these engineers can earn more than $150,000 per year. Specific field in which these engineers work also affect the salary figure i.e. building electrical engineers earn less than aeronautical electrical engineers who work on airplanes etc.

Useful tips for creating an Electrical Engineer Resume:

  • Start with adding a unique objective which shouldn’t be less than 3 sentences or more than 6.
  • Then add personal and contact information such as name, nationality, mailing address and marital status.
  • Always use a single font and never use more than one color for the heading and subheadings.
  • Always discuss different kind of stuff in separate sections i.e. personal and contact info, employment history and education and certifications.
  • Make sure that you don’t send out the resume without proofreading it completely.
